Overview
Robop has been used in a very wide variety of applications both in the U.K. and in 14 other countries so far. This section of the web site outlines some typical applications divided into broad catagories. Back in 2002 our first customer installation was for Schlumberger Oilfield Services where we successfully deterred a colony of nesting and loafing gulls estimated at over 1,000 birds. Flushed with success we attempted to clear the whole town centre of Fraserborough which we actually succeeded in doing but regrettably only for a short period. Since then we have focused on less ambitious goals aiming to keep specific customer buildings free from gulls, pigeons and occasionally other nuisance birds. The most successful long term installation is with Johnson & Johnson Medical (see Healthcare) who have had their Robops in continuous use since 2003. Possibly the greatest financial saving has been for retail giant B&Q where on one store alone it is estimated that we saved them around £400,000 in the first year. Our customers tend to be either bold or desperate; bold because they are keen to try something new and often desperate because everything else they have tried has failed. Regrettable for some of these Robop doesn't work either which goes to prove what a complex business deterring birds can be. In order to get a more thorough understanding of bird behaviour we have teamed up with the University of St. Andrews so watch out for some exciting new developments from Robop.
