Has Robop been used successfully at an airport?

No. Some tests have been conducted at Manchester and Edinburgh Airports. However, the results were somewhat inconclusive when used to protect the main runway. Part of the issue here is the vast area that needs to be covered but only one bird was used for the trial. Since the Manchester Trial (Winter 2005) we have completely re designed the trailer system making it much quicker and easier to deploy. This new trailer was used at Edinburgh Airport. Some staff claimed that Robop worked very well indeed. Others said it worked in some areas but not so well in others. Overall not well enough to warrant scrapping their existing bird control procedure, at least not without further tests.
