Electricity
Here is an example of two electricity companies half a world apart using Robop for two entirely different bird problems. BC Hydro located in British Columbia in western Canada are using Robop to keep birds away from remote electricity sub stations. Here in the U.K. East Midlands Electricity (now part of Powergen) use Robop to keep starlings off their power lines. Such lines do not normally have problems with birds but what happens when they go through a housing estate where there was once open fields? What happens is that starlings settle on the wires, sometimes in large numbers and while they are merrily chatting to their mates before flying off to their night time roost they are "pooing" all over peoples washing, their cars and their smart new conservatories. So, anxious to keep good relations with the public the electricity company have used Robops to keep starlings off the lines and pylons. The photo opposite shows a linesman climbing up with a Robop on his back. .
