Airports

The crash landing of a passanger jet in the Hudson River was a graphic example of why it is essential for airports to keep birds away. However, large airports such as Schipol near Amsterdam cover a vast area so bird control teams have a very difficult job to do. After an extensive trial Schipol became the first airport in the World to use Robop. This is deployed on one of our specially designed vehicle trailers complete with pneumatic pole which lifts Robop 22 feet above ground. The photo opposite shows Robop at Osnabruck airport at the start of extensive field trials to qualify Robop for use in all German airports. The Osnabruck trial came to a successful conclusion and Robop is now on duty in Dusseldorf. Field trials are very costly for us and so going forward it is unlikely that these will be done without a substantial contribution to the cost from the airports concerned. As is often the case it is actually cheaper to buy a unit to test than to conduct a trial.
